About Me

Hidden deep in an overhang crevasse was this whole bighorn sheep skull and skeleton.

My name is Joe Drake (a.k.a. Alphabet or Alfabeto).  I am a Ph.D. student, field biologist, anthropologist, and professional wandering wonderer.  I have had the chance to see a couple places on this little place called Earth (and keep trying to see more).  More importantly I have got to meet some amazing people along the way.  Many times they are people doing good for the rest of us out here.  Scientists, artists, writers, humanitarians, and the like have all given me the time of day to teach me something and often let me work with them.  Hopefully, once in a while, I will be able to pass on to you something the ground or the people and things walking on it have passed on to me.
